Mind Over Matter Psychological Services provides psychological assessment and treatment for workers compensation and psychological injury matters. Our registered psychologist is SIRA approved, and the practice is based in Kingswood, Western Sydney.
Psychological injury treatment
Work-related psychological injury can affect mood, anxiety, sleep, concentration, relationships, confidence, physical recovery and capacity for work. Treatment is tailored to the individual presentation and may address both symptoms and functional barriers to recovery.
Depending on clinical need, treatment may include cognitive behavioural strategies, behavioural activation, graded exposure, trauma-focused treatment, EMDR and other evidence-based interventions within the psychologist’s scope of practice.
Recovery and return to work
Treatment may include:
- Reduction of psychological symptoms and distress.
- Improvement in sleep, routine and activities of daily living.
- Management of trauma triggers, anxiety and avoidance.
- Improvement in coping with pain, injury and functional limitations.
- Development of practical strategies to support rehabilitation.
- Graded return-to-work planning where clinically appropriate.
- Communication with the nominated treating doctor, insurer and rehabilitation provider where consent and the treatment context permit.
Workers compensation fees
For accepted or provisionally accepted workers compensation claims, there is generally no out-of-pocket cost to the worker for approved psychological treatment. Fees are charged in accordance with the applicable SIRA fee schedule and insurer approval requirements.
Approval requirements can vary between claims. Clients should confirm the status of their claim and treatment approval with the insurer or case manager.
