Court Report

Mind Over Matter Psychological Services provides independent psychological assessments and court reports for legal matters.

A court report can assist solicitors, barristers and the Court by providing a clear, evidence-based psychological opinion regarding a person’s mental health, diagnosis, functioning, treatment needs, risk factors, and rehabilitation prospects.

Reports may be requested for matters involving:

  • Section 14 applications
  • Section 10 matters
  • Bail applications
  • Sentencing matters
  • Family law or parenting-related issues
  • Other criminal, civil or medico-legal proceedings

We do not provide legal advice. Your solicitor or barrister should advise you about the type of report required and the legal purpose of the assessment.

The assessment process may include a clinical interview, review of relevant documents, consideration of DSM-5-TR diagnostic criteria, psychometric testing where clinically indicated, and preparation of a structured report suitable for legal use.

With your written consent, we can communicate with your solicitor or barrister and review relevant material to ensure the report addresses the appropriate clinical and legal issues.

Court and medico-legal reports commence from $3,135 inclusive of GST.

A 50% deposit is required to secure the assessment appointment. The balance is payable before the report is released.

Urgent reports, large document briefs, psychometric testing, addendum reports, solicitor conferences, subpoena-related work and court attendance may incur additional fees.

Reports are prepared independently and based on the available clinical and documentary evidence. A report cannot guarantee any particular legal outcome.
